I was looking for something to put in my closet to use to reach things on my top shelf. I'm 5'10", but still, I can't even reach the top shelf! Well I found this stool at a yard sale and bought it for $5.00.
All it took was a little elbow grease (sand paper) and a $3.00 can of spray paint and now I have a pretty little stool that I can leave in my bedroom and use when I need it.

something blue
I guess I've been having the blues this week. First the toes and now this outfit. I wore something similar yesterday to two birthdays that me, my hubby and son went to. The only differences were that I wore a black t-shirt, black belt, my shoes were flats and I had a black bag. I also included a flower that I put in my hair which I pulled to the side. It like how it turned out. My look was so much more afforadable than this high-end look. The jeans, bag and t-shirt I had. My accessories were around $30 and my sandles $13. This outfit I found on Polyvore.

feeling blue
So this morning I woke up earlier than usual for a few reasons. I can get a lot done in a quiet house and I can get a lot done in a quiet house. LOL! Anyway, I knew today was going to be a beautiful day in South Jersey, and so I decided to wear sandals. There's just one problem with that, my toes were not ready to be viewed. Solution - clean them up and polish them. I love the blue color, but the best part to my feeling blue ... which I'm really not, is that I saved myself around $30.
It's amazing how the cost of everything is going up and my paycheck is getting smaller thanks to our wonderful goverment. But I'm not going to surrender. My husband and I are constantly looking for ways to save. I just purchased the supplies to make my own detergent and we've replaced all the lights in our house with the cost effective ones. Last month our electric bill was $65. Sweet right? Now the bulbs were expensive, but the long term savings outlook is worth the cost.
How are you saving money at home? I'd love to hear your stories on saving. As soon as I make the detergent. I'll share my recipe.
Happy Wednesday!

valentine DIY
I love to create, because it fills a part of me that nothing else can fill. To look at something I've made is so fulfilling and this project was no exception. I came across this sweater DIY on one of my favorite blogs A Beautiful Mess and knew I had to give it a try. It was super easy because Elsie and her staff/co-creators give such clear and easy directions. I would suggest to anyone who loves creating and have sewing knowledge to give it a try. I had so much fun that I also created one using a black sweater. Oh and I almost forgot that the entire project (both sweaters and the red fabric hearts) only cost me $15.00. Sweet!
I just love it!

Weight Watchers Yogurt
I love Weight Watchers yogurt. My favorite is Amaretto Cheesecake ... yum! Well today I went to one of my local grocery stores to buy some and the store had them marked at $1.05. Seriously? Talk about price gouging. I didn't buy it and left to hit a different store. At the second store they were $.79, which was a bit better. I didn't have any more time to go to store number three, so I bought two cups at $.79 each.
This got me to thinking about how supermarkets can be quite the rip-off if your not careful. I usually don't shop at either of these two stores unless there's a sale, but today I was in a pinch. The first store was an Acme, which usually has higher prices that the other two, but if you find some good sales, you can definitely save some money. The second store was a ShopRite, which is usually better on prices and this week they are having great sales, so I though I would do better. The store I usually shop at is a Wal-Mart Superstore. They have great prices, take coupons (which the other two also do) an have good quality products, and there Weight Watchers yogurt is only $.50.
So what have I learned today? Know your prices. My plan is to save money this year and spend less. In order to do that, this is one area where knowing prices, sales and the best places to shop will. Also use coupons. They may take come time to cut out, but the end result of more money in your pocket is worth it.
